How do I extend the voting deadline for a vote I already setup?

< 1 min read

A user with vote-management permission can change a vote’s due date and due time from its Edit Vote form. Use this carefully because extending or reopening a vote changes the governance timeline visible to members.

Extend an open vote #

  1. Open Votes → Items Requiring Action or Vote History.
  2. Open the vote and select Edit.
  3. Change Vote Due Date and Vote Due Time.
  4. Review the description and optional details to make sure you are updating the correct vote.
  5. Select Update Vote.
  6. Return to the vote detail page and confirm the new due date and time.

If the vote is already closed #

A past-due vote displays Reopen Vote on its detail page. Only use this action when your organization’s voting policy permits a closed vote to reopen. Confirm the revised deadline and communicate the change to eligible voters.

Permission note: Control visibility did not consistently match create-vote access during production validation. If you are unsure whether your role should edit or reopen votes, stop and ask an administrator before making a change.
